ACL Rehabilitation with Beyond Barbell Training
Recovering from an ACL injury requires more than a few clinic visits. Long-term success depends on a structured, evidence-based plan and consistent guidance both in and out of the clinic. At Beyond Barbell Training, I combine residency training in orthopedics, years of experience working with post-operative ACL cases, and a background as a strength coach to provide athletes with comprehensive, high-level care.
A Distinctive Approach to ACL Rehab
Many athletes struggle in recovery not because of what happens during therapy sessions, but because of the lack of structure and accountability outside of them. My model addresses this by offering:
In-person treatment designed around your specific stage of recovery and performance goals.
Individualized programming to complete outside the clinic, ensuring steady, progressive gains between sessions.
Ongoing support through TrueCoach, including exercise demonstrations, feedback, form review, and program adjustments can be added for a more comprehensive recovery.
This approach ensures continuity, accountability, and measurable progress at every stage of recovery.
Clinical Expertise and Experience
Through my residency training in orthopedics, I gained advanced clinical skills in post-surgical management and return-to-sport rehabilitation. Over the years, I have worked extensively with athletes following ACL reconstruction using all major graft types—patellar tendon, hamstring, quadriceps tendon, allograft, and the newer BEAR (Bridge-Enhanced ACL Restoration) technique.
This breadth of experience allows me to understand the unique demands of each surgical approach and adapt rehabilitation accordingly.
Evidence-Based Rehabilitation
Research consistently shows that successful ACL rehabilitation requires progressive loading, strength development, movement retraining, and return-to-sport criteria—not just isolated exercises or basic therapy. My dual background as a physical therapist and strength coach ensures that every athlete receives a program that is both medically sound and performance-driven.
Non-Operative Management and Copers
Not every ACL injury requires reconstruction. Certain athletes, known as copers, are able to return to activity without surgery. For these individuals, I provide evidence-based non-operative rehabilitation, focusing on neuromuscular control, strength, and functional stability to support safe and confident participation in sport and daily life.
Options For Care
In-Person Rehabilitation: Focused sessions to address mobility, strength, and movement quality.
Hybrid Model (In-Person + Online): Hands-on care supported by structured programming outside of the clinic.
Fully Online Rehabilitation: For athletes unable to work with me in person but seeking expert, individualized guidance and accountability.
My goal is not only to restore function but also to prepare each athlete for the physical and psychological demands of returning to sport. Every program is designed to build resilience, confidence, and performance capacity—helping you move beyond recovery and back to the activities you value most.
