ACL rehabilitation in Portland, Oregon — built for a real return to sport
Residency-trained orthopedic care and strength-coach programming for Portland & Beaverton athletes — combined, so recovery and performance are never treated as two separate things.
More than a few clinic visits
Recovering from an ACL injury requires more than a few clinic visits. Long-term success depends on a structured, evidence-based plan and consistent guidance both in and out of the clinic.
At Beyond Barbell Training, serving Portland and Beaverton, Oregon, I combine residency training in orthopedics, years of experience working with post-operative ACL cases, and a background as a strength coach to provide athletes with comprehensive, high-level care.
A distinctive approach to ACL rehab
In-person treatment designed around your specific stage of recovery and performance goals — supported by objective data, not just time-based milestones.
- Individualized programming to complete outside the clinic, ensuring steady, progressive gains between sessions.
- Ongoing support through TrueCoach — exercise demos, feedback, form review, and program adjustments.

Force PlatesOVR Force Plate AnalysisObjective, side-to-side data on strength, power, and landing mechanics. Instead of relying on time-based milestones alone, we measure limb symmetry index (LSI), quantify jump and landing asymmetries, and track force production deficits — guiding return-to-sport decisions with real numbers rather than guesswork.Pre-ordered — shipping to the clinic October 2026
Experience across every major graft type — patellar tendon, hamstring, quadriceps tendon, allograft, and the newer BEAR technique.
Through residency training in orthopedics, I gained advanced clinical skills in post-surgical management and return-to-sport rehabilitation. This breadth of experience allows me to understand the unique demands of each surgical approach and adapt rehabilitation accordingly.
Programs that are medically sound and performance-driven
Research consistently shows that successful ACL rehabilitation requires progressive loading, strength development, movement retraining, and return-to-sport criteria — not just isolated exercises or basic therapy. My dual background as a physical therapist and strength coach ensures that every athlete receives a program built on both.
Not every ACL injury requires reconstruction
Certain athletes, known as copers, are able to return to activity without surgery. For these individuals, I provide evidence-based non-operative rehabilitation, focusing on neuromuscular control, strength, and functional stability to support safe and confident participation in sport and daily life.
However you need to work with me
My goal is not only to restore function but also to prepare each athlete for the physical and psychological demands of returning to sport. Every program is designed to build resilience, confidence, and performance capacity — helping you move beyond recovery and back to the activities you value most.
